Born in Manizales, Colombia in 1963, Carlos Valencia, a self-taught painter has mastered oil on canvas. An Economist by training who spent many years working at a multinational company, his passion always has been painting. So, he devoted himself to studying and learning using the internet and all literature available. He investigated painting and drawing techniques, styles, theory of color, and history of the universal painting. He also learned from his favorite painters who guided his style until he found his own. After experimenting with the spatula, pop art, expressionism and other styles, he found his path within the figurative and costumbrista style (illustrating everyday life). In 2014, after thinking about it for so long, he decided to quit his job in foreign trade and follow his passion. Since then he has dedicated himself to creating beautiful paintings recreating popular customs of his lovely Colombia.
